My Beautiful Nanny
I remember, as a little child,
The safest place in the world was in your arms.
So soft and sweet and strong.
It is where I remember being little best.
You would rock me and sing hymns.
I can hear your sweet voice now in my heart.
And as I grew up, it never changed.
You where always my shelter.
You gave me my childhood.
You defended me even when I was wrong.
And when you left, I was a child again.
I needed shelter, and, for the first time found none,
Sometimes a lifetime is not enough.
I wish my children could know your sweetness.
In some small way, they do.
Because all that is good in my sweet mother,
all that is good in me, came from you.
Rest in the safety of your Fathers arms.
I know He holds you now as you held me.
I know He is proud of the life you lived,
of the love you gave. We were all so lucky.
We still need you here.
But you loved us enough, gave us enough
to comfort us until we meet again.
I love you so much.

My Beautiful Nanny
Nanny,
I will never forget anything about you.
I still remember your beautful eyes. How they sparkled like my daughters do. How they were the most amazing color. They always reminded me of shadows on a snow bank.
I will never forget how wonderful it was to hug you.
How no expression but a smile ever looked at home on your sweet face.
I will never forget your voice, so sweetly husky and so comforting. I'd give anything to hear you say you love me one more time.
I'll always remember the last time I made you laugh. It was the littlest joke in the world, but I thank God all the time I said it, because I'll treasure that laugh forever.
Every detail of our last conversation is etched forever on my memory. And it was perfect. Almost like I knew it was the last time.
I love you so much, Nanny. I always will. Because of you, I feel the connection between earth and heaven more strongly, and I know that Heaven is beautiful, because it is where I'll find you.
Love,
Miranda
